The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recognized the efforts of nine individuals and one organization with its Environmental Hero Award. Presented alongside Earth Day celebrations, this award acknowledges NOAA volunteers for their unwavering commitment to preserving and safeguarding our environment. Since its establishment in 1995, the Environmental Hero award has been bestowed upon individuals and organizations that generously volunteer their time and efforts to support NOAA's mission. "NOAA and the nation are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated individuals volunteering their time," remarked retired Navy Vice Admiral Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Ph.D., who serves as the undersecretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator. "These environmental heroes serve as inspiring examples for others in their communities to emulate.
